FIUME
as
Juliet
A kindred spirit Ekaterina, also owner of a Soulkid girl, asked me to make a
dress from the famous Zeffirelli's
film ROmeo and Juliet, because her Lynn looks like Juliet, ad she loves the
movie ...
I admit I haven't seen the movie yet, and the day dress, that
Ekaterina chose, I found only on a few small pictures.
I researched the dresses worn in Italy during 15th
century. The underdress with high waistline-
gamurra - are from a cotton duvetyne, front laced up. The sleeves are tied to
the armholes with leather bands. The bodice, the
gathered skirt were sewn and lined separately, and after finishing they were
sewn together.
The sleeveless overdress - giornea - are from a viscose/silk velvet, lined in
silk and belted under breast.
To the costume belong the very full chemise, the cap, the
stockings and the simple shoes from a dark brown fake suede.
