Reiko

as a miko, shrine maiden

The miko, the shrine maidens, we can see in the shinto shrines in Japan, assisting priests or helping visitors or cleaning the courtyard of the shrine....
Their typical costume consists of the plain white kimono, called kosode and of the bright red trousers or the pleated skirt, called hakama. Although the outfit looks very striking and elegant, it was originally the women's underwear of Heian period. The ponytail of miko is adorned with paper ribbons.
This costume is very popular among fans of manga and cosplayers.

My Reiko was originally 16" Koko by Butterfly Ring (I renamed her, because koko means "a hen's cackle" here :-)),  I repainted her and made the longer wig for her (ventilating method).
The trousers from a red cotton poplin have the low placed crotch, so the kimono can be tucked inside, and the fastens with a pair of ties at waist.  The off-white kimono is from a starched twill, under the kimono is also the white cotton undershirt with narrow sleeves, and the separate red collar. She has white socks and sandals from balsa wood (taken from a wicker rack). The broom was made from a piece of a dry stem and from a natural bast.
