Four part dress for 12"
Barbie doll (belly button body, or,
exactly, Sindy).
The doll's head is usual "superstar" face mold, but her teeth were "extracted",
her face repainted and her hair rerooted with a brown viscose rope.
- The underwear constists of the black, lined,
sleeveless wrap blouse and the wide pants.
- The red dress has the bell -shaped skirt stiffened with an interlinig (vlieseline),it
closes front with 2 pairs of hooks and eyes. The whole dress, except the red
parts of the sleeves is lined.
- The brown-red vest consists of two shoulder straps and two skirts.
The underskirt is bell-shaped, there are attached 3 stripes of a ribbed
velvet. To have the "ribs" in the right position, it was necessary to gather
the upper edge of each stripe a bit. The upper skirt comes to a
point at center front and the center back.. The vest is lined and fastens
front with hook and eye. The fasteningis hidden under the wide black
leather belt.
- To the costume belong also pair of the high black boots (the
original plastic boots were covered with a fine black leather) and the fancy
headdress. The headdress consists of the gilded "half helmet"
from 2-part epoxy putty, which is attached to the doll's
head with an elastic thread pulled through holes in the ends of the helmet,
and red "crest". The basis of the crest is
from a sheet of a hard plastic, the red sections are also from epoxy putty
and the gaps between them are filled with a strand of viscose hair.
